George Boyer

George studied architecture at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto. He then went on to study drawing and painting at the Ontario College of Art where he graduated in 1980. His recent work depicts the essence of the Canadian landscape, from urban scenes to the natural beauty of the north. Although his paintings don't often portray people, the suggestion of human presence gives them a surreal quality. There is something calming and peaceful in his view of the world around us. His work conveys the effect people have on the urban and rural environment, and in his landscapes the benefits of minimizing our impact on the natural world. He has great admiration for Canadian artists of the past and his work reflects this while remaining distinctly contemporary.
