George Boyer is a Canadian painter known for his detailed depictions of urban scenes and natural landscapes across Ontario. Born in 1955 in Ottawa, he studied architecture at Ryerson Polytechnical Institution before pursuing drawing and painting at the Ontario College of Art, graduating in 1980. His background in architecture is reflected in the strong sense of structure and perspective present in much of his work.
Boyer’s paintings focus on everyday Canadian environments, particularly Toronto streets, historic buildings, and rural settings. Working in both acrylic and watercolour, he combines careful architectural detail with expressive use of light and colour, giving familiar locations a distinctive atmosphere and narrative quality.
Over his career, Boyer has exhibited widely and maintained close ties to the Ontario art community. He is a member of organizations such as the Ontario Society of Artists and the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, and was named a Life Member of the Ontario Society of Artists in 2021. His work continues to be collected and recognized for its portrayal of Canadian life and landscape.
